Students who wish to study MBBS and BDS dental must pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which serves as their entrance requirement. NTA is the examination authority to conduct the test through its National Testing Agency.
NEET conducts its examination offline using pen-and-paper methods. The examination takes place yearly in May. In the NEET exam, students are required to answer 180 questions selected from a pool of 200 multiple-choice questions, which include topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
Students receive four marks for each correct answer but lose one mark for every wrong response. The complete examination period lasts 3 hours and 20 minutes. Students must complete their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as essential subjects to qualify for NEET admission.
Students from the general category need to achieve a minimum of 50% PCB marks, yet students from the reserved category face lower requirements. The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared that NEET 2025 will take place on May 4, 2025, during the time period from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM IST.
